I know that we are 2 weeks into the new year already, but because I read so much last year I thought it would be fun to join some reading challenges for 2017. I’ve spent the last couple of days searching all different book blogs and picking out some of my favorite challenges that I think I can do well in.
Flights of Fantasy Challenge
Challenge: Read as many fantasy books as possible in 2017. There is also a FOF book club book picked quarterly
Goal: My personal goal that I’ve set is 20 books, I’m pretty sure I can meet that and even exceed it but I don’t want to get too carried away.
New Release Challenge
Challenge: Read and review 2017 new releases
Goal: There are different levels to this challenge and I’m thinking I’ll probably be level one since I get most of my books from the library.
- 1-30 books per year – New Release Newbie
- 31-60 books per year – New Release Pro
- 61-100 books per year – New Release Veteran
- 101-200 books per year – New Release Enthusiast
- 200+ books per year – New Release Obsessed
Library Love Challenge
Challenge: Read books borrowed from your library instead of buying them
Goal: I’m hoping to reach at least 36 books read that were from the library, while I get most of my books from the library to save money I have a feeling this year I may be buying more as well to compete in these other challenges.
- Dewey Decimal: read 12 books
- Thrifty Reader: read 24 books
- Overdrive Junkie: read 36 books
- Library Card on Fire: read 50+ books
It’s time for Friday Favorites and I am so excited for this one because I have a huge reveal!
I resisted the Iggy Azalea fan club for as long as I could and then I downloaded her album and fell in love.
Favorite moment this week:
I went to a new hairdresser yesterday, I work out with her. Initially I said let’s take it slow with my hair, but then I got there and we said fuck it and bleached my entire head. I am now little mermaid red and I couldn’t be happier. I am amazed at how soft my hair feels considering what I just put it through.
Least favorite moment this week:
If you follow me on Instagram you’ve already seen this, but during an intense workout I fell on the last set of 10 box jumps and seriously scraped up my arms as well as some nice bruising on both arms. I had to try so hard to not cry, but thankfully I kept it together and we finished the workout.
I found this one someone’s twitter this week and found it very interesting. I have never really been into astrology or any of that, but found this pretty accurate for myself. I’m a Virgo btw!
I know that I shouldn’t really be posting about something that hasn’t happened yet because it may be a disaster, but I have a bridal shower this weekend and I am making a wedding dress cupcake cake! I’m super nervous that it’s going to come out like shit, but also excited to see if I can pull it off.
It’s time for my humpday confessions!
I was a little disappointed with this season of Orange is the new Black, although I did really like them showing the girls before they went to prison.
I wish I liked wine so then I could say I need to go home and relax with a bottle of wine. But then I would be drinking my calories away so I guess it’s a good thing I don’t. But I can’t make any cool projects out of wine corks.
My phone has been dying around noon every day and I’ve basically been bitching about it nonstop for months, well dumbass me just realized that an app I downloaded months ago is constantly running in the background tracking my steps. Here I was trying to figure out how I could trick someone into buying me a new phone!
I get at least one email a day at work that I just want to respond like this. Also Ari Gold is my spirit animal.
And last but not least, I confess that I started this post last week and then just never posted it because I didn’t have enough to confess and I also didn’t have time to search for gifs, which really is the most time consuming part of my posts.
Saturday I started my morning off with a couple a workouts that I had missed during the week thanks to the little stomach bug that I had caught. Then I spent the rest of the day packing and cleaning the house while Mr. H worked. When he got home we filled the hot tub to see if it still worked and we could take it with us to the new house, but unfortunately it didn’t. We headed out to a graduation party at a friends house for the rest of the night.
Sunday I woke up around 8:30 and went food shopping & when I got back my dad was mowing the front lawn. I told him I would mow the backyard and he went to go pick up the rest of his hammock he got as a gift for father’s day. When he got back, I helped him plant in his new divider then we grilled steak tips and corn for lunch and headed out on the boat. We fished and hung out on the lake for 3 hours and got a great tan. I ended the night with more packing. This feels like the project that is never going to end!
I have so much coming up this week and honestly up until the move that I don’t know when I will have time to update again. I have been scrambling to try and stay on some kind of schedule and clearly it is not working out very well for me. I am sorry and once we are moved and settled I should be back to normal as well as finally have some new recipes!
I’m sorry I have been so mia lately, packing and the move is really starting to get to me! We have 14 days till closing! It’s coming up so quick and there is still so much to do, it’s crazy.
This looks so easy to make and is the perfect balance of jello & marshmallow! I already packed up everything in the kitchen that we don’t use daily so I have a long list of things to make once we get into the new house and I can be in my beautiful big kitchen.
I finally caught up on Ladies of London last night and I have to say that while I don’t think I like Annabelle, this dress she wore is pure perfection.
Favorite moment this week:
Monday morning I woke up early and used my get running app and ran around my lake. When I stepped on the scale on Wednesday I was down 5 pounds. The scale has been stuck on the same number for months so even though I totally played it cool and like I didn’t really care what the scale said, inside I am still having a full blown rager. I’m going to try and keep up with running the lake, even when we move.
Least favorite moment this week:
Tuesday night I woke up at 1 am and felt so sick. I had to stay home from work Wednesday and still don’t feel 100%. Thanks to this stupid stomach bug I missed working out Wednesday night and my run Wednesday morning.
how I feel when I say something hilarious and no one says anything
I’m trying to really limit my carb intake since I think that’s what is stopping the scale from moving & of course hubby wants pizza.
I used to think this all the time when I was running on the treadmill
If you ever wondered why I don’t wear makeup, I calculate down to the second of how long I can sleep in and not be late for work
This weekend we headed to the Cape Thursday night to celebrate my sister’s birthday. Every year we head down to our cape house for the first weekend in June and it’s kind of like the kick-off of summer. The only thing that slowed me down this weekend (and really all of last week) was that I sprained my foot the weekend before regionals and didn’t actually go to a doctor until Monday after work. I was told to stay off and use crutches. Which of course I didn’t do any of that! I took 2 days off from the gym and then headed back into working out on Thursday morning and I only iced it once this whole weekend. Plus I started this morning off with a 3 mile run around my lake. I know I should be taking it easy, but I feel like if I stop I’m going to sink back into a horrible routine of not working out at all.
We were all sad that we had to leave yesterday to come back to the real world and are already planning the next time we can head down. As you can see from my OOTD’s I wore 2 things from my fashion posts and I have to say that the black maxi from F21 is the best $5 I’ve ever spent and even though it’s open back it looked perfect with my bathing suit top underneath it. Oh yes and I totally posed for a photo after getting a hole in one at mini golf. Here’s to hoping that this work week goes by super quick so I can enjoy another fantastic weekend!
This weekend we went down to Canton, MA for the Crossfit North East Regionals and it was a fantastic weekend. We spent entirely too much money on stuff, but it was a great time with friends and both Mr. H and I left feeling inspired to make it to regionals next year. We stayed at the Renaissance Waterfront hotel in Boston which was beautiful, but I will admit that I was happy to be home and in my own bed last night with my pups. They have been pretty upset that we have been leaving them every weekend.
We got home Sunday around 4 and immediately went food shopping and got into food prep, No excuses this week! Hubby won tons of free products for lifting 55 pounds with just his fingertips and I am really excited to try the woman’s pre-workout along with my new shaker cup!
Monday came way too quick, but at least its another 4 day work week for me as I am off Friday because we are headed to the cape for my sisters birthday. Hope you all have a great week!
