Book Review & Giveaway – Project Pandora by Aden Polydoros

ProjectPandoraTour.png

Tyler Bennett trusts no one. Just another foster kid bounced from home to home, he’s learned that lesson the hard way. Cue world’s tiniest violin. But when strange things start happening—waking up with bloody knuckles and no memory of the night before or the burner phone he can’t let out of his sight— Tyler starts to wonder if he can even trust himself.

Even stranger, the girl he’s falling for has a burner phone just like his. Finding out what’s really happening only leads to more questions…questions that could get them both killed. It’s not like someone’s kidnapping teens lost in the system and brainwashing them to be assassins or anything, right? And what happens to rogue assets who defy control?

In a race against the clock, they’ll have to uncover the truth behind Project Pandora and take it down—before they’re reactivated. Good thing the program spent millions training them to kick ass…

Review: Project Pandora follows 4 characters and is extremely fast paced. I really got attached to one of the characters and loved everything about him through out the book. The story is told through case notes and status reports which really lets you delve into the characters backgrounds and history and helps pull everything together.

The ending of the book left me pretty upset and clamoring for the next book to see what happens. As a debut novel from Aden Polydoros it absolutely captured my interest and I can’t wait to see the progression in the next story and Aden’s writing.

Love curses don’t exist. At least that’s what Jonas, master of the meaningless hookup, tells himself when a letter warns him he’s an Eros Guardian cursed to endure a test of true love or forever be alone. His levelheaded longtime friend Cora figures it’s a revenge prank by an ex. The way Jonas stamps each girlfriend with a weeklong use-by date, it serves him right.

But when an impulsive kiss between the two friends reveals potential for more, Cora becomes the target of the Groth Maar: demons sent to wipe out the Eros Guardian line. And suddenly the curse becomes dangerously real.

Breaking the curse means Jonas’s biggest challenge yet. Failure guarantees Cora’s death. But success may cost him his own life…and the loss of his carefully guarded heart to the one girl far too sensible to fall for him.

TTK-Teaser1

Review: This book was a great quick read and I really enjoyed all the aspects of it. I’m a sucker for witty banter and Jonas and Cora fully delivered. The will they, won’t they that played out was very enjoyable.  Cora is a take care of herself kind of girl which I fully relate to and really helped me connect to her as I feel like most YA books these days have ditzy main characters.

The curse itself and the world were so interesting to me and I really enjoyed learning about the curse slowly and all the different facets to it. There are a couple of twists in the book and I will say that I saw one of them coming for most of the book, but didn’t expect the other.

I’m excited to see what more we learn about the curse in the next book and where the story for our characters goes. Jonas, Cora, Beth and Leo are a lovable squad that you’ll be rooting for.

June was an amazing month of reading for me! I felt totally reinvigorated to continue towards all the goals I made for the year and really make up for my lack of reading the past couple of months. I don’t expect July to be as good as June, but wow what a great way to kick off the second half of the year!

I skipped April because I didn’t feel like I read enough to warrant a blog post, sadly May wasn’t much better. I’ll be combining them into this post so it makes it look like I actually read some books! Thankfully I feel the reading bug coming back so I’m hoping June will be a better month for me.

Monthly Challenge Wrap-Up

Apparently March was not my month for reading! I only finished 4 books. I think it can partly be blamed on my new obsession with the show Reign. I started watching on Netflix and just couldn’t stop watching, I’m just starting season 3 this week. I also felt like the books I picked up this month didn’t really hold my attention and weren’t books that I couldn’t wait to finish.

I am so sorry that this monthly update is so late, March is basically over but I wanted to hold myself accountable and still get Februarys up. Between moving and then my computer breaking and having to bring it to the Apple store to be fixed this post fell to the back burner and I apologize. I didn’t do much reading due to the fact that February is a short month, plus I was packing and unpacking for most of the month.
