Coffee & Conversation – How important is social approval to you?

I found this bi-weekly link up through one of my favorite blogs Hello Jaxon. Seriously if you haven’t checked out Mandy’s blog what are you waiting for?! I mean we have the same name so obviously I am obsessed with her, but the girl is REAL and that’s something I can appreciate in the blogosphere. The link up comes from Kalyn & Lauren and while it’s not something that I am struggling with right now, it has definitely been something that I’ve had to learn to deal with.

Coffee & Conversation

Social approval has always been something I have wanted and I think during high school is the peak of when people seek this approval the most. The time that I was in high school was just when social media was starting to get big and myspace and facebook started coming around. I’m talking AIM days people! These outlets really caused a lot of stress with other girls and made some of high school a living hell for me. Thankfully I learned to have a thicker skin and just continue to be who I want to be and not worry about what other people are thinking/saying. Of course you always hope that people will not be cruel and everyone will stay positive, but let’s be honest, that ain’t the world we’re living in!

As I’ve gotten older and more social media has been introduced and I’ve put (some) of my life on the blog for criticism I’ve learned that at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what others say, but it’s what you feel in your heart. My uncle said something to me and my hubby when we got engaged and it’s always stuck with me, “Once you’re married your husband/wife is your only family. Everyone else in your family will be involved in your life, but the only one that matters is them” I’ve found this so true over the almost 2 years that we’ve been married and that the only approval I look for at the end of the day is his.

When it comes to social approval the most important is your family’s and unfortunately for me I have struggled with that approval as well. All I will say is that social media usually doesn’t help situations where social approval is wanted/needed. I will say that no matter what happens, everything is for a reason and it WILL make you stronger.

  1. Thanks so much for sharing and joining in with us! It’s funny how things change with time and especially after you are married. Great quotes too, I think I pinned them all 🙂
